Materials Science and Engineering Overview The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UT Dallas involves the study of advanced materials – including metals and their composites, polymers, silicon and biomaterials – and their potential use in various applications. Our Mission Our Approach We Provide Students With Academics We provide students with an advanced education in materials science and engineering and prepare them for long and successful professional and/or research careers in industry, government or academia. Faculty Our faculty is committed and have continued to make large strides in tiny domains that include research areas of electronic materials, semiconductor processors and flexible electronics to impact the world. Facilities Our department is housed in the Natural Science and Engineering Research Laboratory, which rivals museums in aesthetics and leading universities and industry labs in research equipment capabilities. Research Focusing on nanoscale materials and phenomena, our research is at the cutting edge of nanoelectronics, photovoltaics, batteries and super-capacitors, atomically precise manufacturing, nanosize coatings and materials for biomedical applications.
